Between 15-20% of the global food supply comes from urban farms.

If we all grew our own food, large corporations wouldn’t control food supply.

The price of food would drop dramatically.

Our Goal

How might we, as students, facilitate the promotion of slow food and urban farms with Nurturing our Seeds?

Initial thoughts post farm visit: Nurturing Our Seeds needs help organizing their information to communicate their mission to a wider audience.

Process

Our Solution: Educational materials, such as these zines, to promote the importance of home-grown, slow food, and exposure to the lasting effects of community gardens. These zines will sit inside of a community seed library outside of the farm, made by other members of our class.

Turning point: We then realized that Nurturing Our Seeds is a COMMUNITY farm, that rejects our current agriculture system, they don’t want to grow and ramp up production, they do want other communities to learn from them.

Production

The Zines were made out of 11 x 17 paper and printed using a risograph printer. This process of production allows for our community partners to easily reprint the zines and adjust color schemes based on seasons or content.
